I have become increasingly cynical about the larger society. This is a long story that I won't go into here. Suffice it to say that, for our family, I would like to minimize entanglements with the larger society to as great a degree as the law and good citizenship allows.

Let me emphasize that I am not misanthropic. I do, however, try to see things as they are. And I think it would be better for us, for our children, and for our future if we kept some distance between us and the present social order.
